Where Children Grow
Woodlands provides day care for children aged 5 weeks to 5 years. We are open from 8am until 6pm, Monday to Friday. We open 51 weeks per year, excluding Bank Holidays and closure for one week at Christmas. Morning and afternoon sessions or any combinations are available, including full days and full week. We aim to be as flexible as possible to accommodate the needs of any parent or child.

Woodlands will be celebrating World book day with a week of activities focused around books.
3 and 4 year old’s (The universal entitlement 15 hours) all children are entitled to this and will receive from the beginning of the Term following the child’s 3rd birthday. For 3 and 4 year old’s of working parents (The extended entitlement) which gives you a additional 15 hours equaling 30 hours. 2 year old entitlement this is not a universal offer parents must provide that their child is eligible based on benefits and credits.
The Over two’s room is known as The Butterfly Room, the children are offered free play and structured activities throughout the session. Each child is monitored and encouraged to reach their full potential at their own pace. Outdoor play provides opportunities to develop their gross motor skills, spatial awareness and problem solving skills.
The under two’s room is known as The Ladybird Cottage, it provides a homely environment for up to six babies and toddlers. we have a good size playroom with an area for messy activities and for babies and toddlers to sleep or rest. The Ladybirds also have their own outdoor space.

School Readiness is not about starting a formal approach to learning as early as possible.
Your child learns and develops mainly through play. It cannot be stressed enough how valuable play opportunities are for your child, allowing him/her to explore the world around them and make connections in their thinking which leads to deep level learning. All the positive experiences that babies and young children can receive contribute towards them being ‘ready for school’.
Supporting your child to become independent, communicative, feeding and dressing themselves, using the toilet and knowing and understanding their own needs is great preparation for later when these skills will be invaluable.
